Hi All,

I have a JB 3GS and a 6 week old (recently JB - Jailbreakme.com) iPad 2.
My 3GS has many apps and I have both Cydia and ICY Beta coexisting on there too. Both iPad and iPhone have had the Polarbear repo added (a couple of weeks ago) to Cydia (to install ICY) but it was only last Sunday I decide to do this on my iPad ….BIG Mistake!!

As soon as the installation was complete I noticed that the springbroad icons for Cydia, ICY and Winterboard where all grey/blank. Then I tried to launched an app and the iPad resprung into Safe mode. And Cydia, ICY and Winterboard had all gone.

So in a panic (and in Safe mode) I went back Jailbreakme.com and re- Jailbroke my iPad which brought back Cydia but without any of the apps and tweaks (Mobile substrate, Cydelete…etc, etc) that I had loaded in Cydia previously.

So my original plan of action was to…
• Backup in iTunes – Done!
• Do a Restore with iTunes to 4.3.3
• Do the JB with Jailbreakme.com
• Install all the Cydia Apps and tweaks back manually.
• Restore the iTunes backup….. and hope for the best!!

This plan was foiled because Apple has now gone to 4.3.4 which cannot be JB’d by Jailbreakme.com at this time. I know I could download the 4.3.3 ipsw from somewhere but before I do this 600Mbt download I wanted to see if I could fix it without a restore.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated??

All the best.

Without SHSH blobs for 4.3.3, you won't be able to restore the iPad to that firmware. And if it's a 3G iPad2, you won't be able to restore to 4.3.3 even with blobs, from my understanding. (Wifi only iPad2 models are fine for downgrading back as long as you stored the SHSH at the appropriate time.)

So, definitely remove ICY if you still have it on there. If that doesn't work, do you have your SHSH? If not, AND you have a wifi model, AND access to a PC (not a Mac), download iFaith and try to save them while you're still on 4.3.3.

If you have a 3G model, you're basically out of a jailbreak. Restore to 4.3.4.

From MuscleNerd via Twitter:
@samsheffer the wifi-only iPad2 isn't stuck as long as you have your 4.3.3 blobs...only the cellular ones are the problem

And this really needs to be in the iPad Hacks forum, as it has nothing to do with your 3GS.

Thanks for the Quick replies.

Sorry this thread is in the wrong section .... first time and all that.... can someone move it?

  • ICY is long gone!!... all by its self
  • I have a wifi (only) iPad2 ... thank god!!!
  • Have not backuped the SHSH blobs in the past ... trying to do that now.
  • iFaith says it only supports iPad1 ... but I just did it with TinyUmbrella?
  • Now have 4 shsh blobs files ... is that OK?...How will I use these?
  • What's the problem with having a new baseband?

ICY ... never again!!!

Thanks again.

Check in cydia and see which shsh you have saved if any. You may have 4.3.3 saved Automatically.

Baseband doesnt apply to you so dont worry about that.

Wow, i thought ICY was long dead and gone....I didnt think it was updated/supported any more.

Hi All,

I found my Answer and fixed my iPad :)

2. Via SSH, you can navigate to the Mobile Substrate folder and delete the items. I have done this in the past when a theme kept causing problems. In 4.3.3: Library/MobileSubstrate/DynamicLibraries/... You can SSH in while its still booting, so if its rebooting too quickly try bookmarking "Library/MobileSubstrate" and delete the DynamicLibraries folder. You should have enough time to do that.

I'm happy :D

When I joined the ranks of JB iPhones I was told never to load ICY. But with the recent news about ICY making a comeback I thought I'd try something new

All the best
