I'd like to give my Dock a makeover

I understand this may be tricky, but i'd like to add some things specifically to the icons.
This is an example of what i would like:

the number in the corner represents the number of windows open.

if this is at all possible, please help me because this is a feature Mac OS X should have.

Dunno if you can do that, however with Dock Exposé, it's unnecessary IMO.

With all the threads I see saying "I changed my icons, and now x, y and z are messed up" I'll leave mine alone, thank you. Why ask for trouble?
