Back when i got my MDD (which was adverted with a SuperDrive and a 120GB HDD) When i got it to my amazement there was a fully working unmentioned 40GB Maxtor DiamondMax 6 HDD inside of it 
I allways loved these DiamondMax series HDDs as they were "Slimline" and only about half the thickness of a standard HDD.
Since i have the added Maxtor 80GB HDD that i took out of a TiVo (and wanting to have matching HDDs (Hitachi Deskstar 60GB Boot drive and a 40GB IBM Deskstar on the ATA100 bus and the Maxtors on the ATA66 Bus) i decided to add this maxtor DiamondMax back in the system... well OS X detects the dive fine but will not format it... i selected the Zero Option and that worked completely however DU just hangs on the partition mapping setting and never actually reaches the "format" stage.... I am not on the MDD ATM but i can provide screen shots in a bit if any of you are confused.
