I heard Andy Ihnatko suggest this idea on this week's MacBreak Weekly...
How about a little web camera that is attached to a dock connector plug with a little universal swivel in between the camera the dock plug? Since the iPad's screen rotates in all positions, you'd simply rotate the iPad so the home button and dock connector are at the top, plug in the web cam, and use the universal swivel to point the camera in the direction you desire... front facing, rear facing, whatever! And the thing wouldn't have to be very big. Hardly larger than a dock connector plug itself. You could carry it in your pocket.
Having the swivel would allow you to lay the iPad flat (or relatively flat) on a table and still point the camera at yourself for video teleconferencing. Or hold the iPad in your hands and adjust the camera accordingly. Andy's idea beats a built-in camera that, in some cases, would be looking up your nose.
This seems like a product that would sell, and sell well! I wonder if Apple's API's would support such a device?
