Hey, I was just doing some work on my Mac and I was listening to iTunes.

It occured to me as a new song that it would be nice if the artist and song title popped up in a transparent way, sort of like how the text pops up on music videos when you watch MuchMusic or MTV.

Is there a widget or App that could perform this? It sounds simple enough to do, but I wouldn't know where to start.

As far as I know, nobody has created such a plug-in for iTunes.

I vote for Growl.

GrowlTunes does exactly what you want, videoclip style info.
I use it in combination with quicksilver for quick access and changes.

Many apps for you to choose from, looks like you weren't the first to have this idea ;)

Edit: and it's free...

WOW, SizzlingKeys just blew me away. (Hint: Aperture ad)

Thanks for the link, I love it :)
Yup, it one of the best and most useful apps around.
However, it gets annoying when you're on someone elses comp, and you're trying to change tracks using the key combination
Download it now! It's awesome!

Has anybody used Sizzlingkeys and Quicksilver here?
How do they compare?

(OT i know)
I use SizzlingKeys for iTunes, and then launch everything else from QuickSilver.
SizzlingKeys only allows you to control iTunes, and Quicksilver is intended for applications, so I can't compare them that well

Ok then, thx - should have taken the time to actually read about SizzlingKeys...
I can do everything i need with the Quicksilver/Bytecontroller/GrowlTunes Combo (and related applescripts).
