So I was working tonight on my iBook and my neck started hurting. I have found (like many others) that my posture is horrible when working at my laptop vs. working at my desktop. My wife has an iCurve stand which she loves but of course is not portable. So here is my idea.

Two things- first, the keyboard in the laptop is removable to be used directly on the table. This would not add much weight or size to the overall laptop I don't belive.

Second, have four legs that fold out (very slim plastic or whatever the shell is made of) and I think now a days these legs could be quite slim and not add much weight or volume to the laptop but allow a user to stand their laptop up at the height of an iCurve or similar and remove the keyboard mentioned above to plact it directly on the desk to type on. These legs could be concealed enough to not make it look ugly or get in the way I would think. Obviously serious engineering would have to be done, but wouldn't that be cool?

The legs would be similar to the enclosed picture- the ones on the right- sturdy, not as ugly or big. It would not be a tripod type shape but four legs on all four corners that simply fold out on lightweight hinges like the below tripod.

what do you think? After typing this I tend to think it would not be popular or even used by many people since people who want a stand would just buy a stand for their desk and would not use it with a stand in their lap of course. However, I am sitting here right now at my kitchen table working for 6 hours and wishing I had a stand- where if I did it would be at my school and would not travel with me.

So I know this is probably a bad idea, but after spending 10 years working in a creative field no idea is bad, there are some ideas that just need lots of tweaking...sometimes so much that they don't even resemble the original idea, but often are a result of the initial idea. So again, what are your thoughts?
