A friend of mine is over on Verizon, and I must say my favorite phone on Verizon has shifted from being the Storm (its nothing compared to my iPhone, but its a nifty device, and I love the click feature 
) Anyway the Versa has a selling point that I believe would be awesome for the iPhone especially now that it can communicate with attachments.

The QWERTY keyboard part doubles as a case. This seems like it would be a perfect fit on the iPhone to accommodate those stingy users who just can't adjust to the onscreen(which I love by the way)
On top of this clever feature they also have another attachment.

I could see this as being a legitimate possibility as far as being made by a third party.
