I think Apple should implement something like this. This would make it more convenient to toggle Wi-Fi on and off. Then if you wanted to view your Wi-Fi networks around you, just tap anywhere on the Wi-Fi button (except for the toggle switch). I think it's a killer idea.

See below for a mock-up:

that, or just tapping the wifi icon in the status bar anywhere in the phone.
*sigh* convenience is a shame sometimes...

You flick your wi-fi settings on and off that much?

When I'm at work, I'd rather not have my iPhone looking for a Wi-Fi connection all day. It reduces the battery. Then, when I get home, I turn it back on... why do I have to go through 2 menus, when they could just make it like Airplane mode... it looks like an easy thing to implement.

Yeah, when you aren't near wifi, your phone, or iPod Touch, is draining battery life trying to find an internet source. So many people change it repeatedly to save battery life.

Interesting. What kind of battery life are you guys getting? I don't flick my stuff on and off and get like 2 days of stand by and 6 or 7 hours of use. Could I be getting more?

where do you get that? I searched App Store
It's a jailbroken application, and perhaps one of the best to showcase what Apple should be doing in future firmware update.

You wouldn't believe how easy it is to toggle on/off.

Seriously?

Right now I'm sitting at 8 hours 41 minutes usage and 2 days 1 hour standy after only plugging it in last night to sync for like 15 minutes.

I leave everything on expect push, bluetooth and prompt to join networks.

That is simply amazing and I would treat that phone like gold and put it in a case.

Because I don't see that USAGE from three charges, let alone a single charge.

Standby? Yes. I can get 2 days of standby.

But 8 hours of usage? Not even close.

And my settings match yours. I don't have search for networks or push on. Everything else stays on.
