Ideas for off-line promotion of website

Has anyone come across any innovative ways to market a website off-line ie using techniques that promote you to the public when they are not sat at their computers?

Bricks and mortar companies use stationary and handouts/flyers and all that jazz, many of which could be used, but are there any twists you have seen specific to promoting a web based entity? Someone said use postcards, which has more of an impact than business cards... Anything else stick in the memory?

We are a so-say humorous site, so there is plenty of scope for off the wall ideas to promote us!

I always liked the gimmee frisbee's. They are about 1.50 in bulk.

One recommendation is if you are going to do a publicity stunt then call up a TV station before hand and get them to cover it.
