iDevice backup files, safe to delete?

Hey all,

In my Users/Name/Library/Application Support/MobileSync folder I have over 11GB of backup files.

I read on a blog recently to routinely clear out that folder to keep it from getting to big but the author didn't specify if one can delete the entire folder or should leave some recent backups, etc.


Looking at mine it has several other folders in with what appears to be hidden files, etc.

So I guess my main question is, can I delete ALL those files, then backup my iDevices and be good to go in again?
