Hi
I've come across an extremely annoying ?new guideline? in the more recent versions of iTunes / iOS. Before I begin explaining my complaint, I'll give a little background. I have my own (personal) iTunes account / Apple ID and a work iTunes account. I haven't authorized my computer with the work iTunes account because there are no more slots, and I truly don't need to authorize playback of work content on my computer.
Back to the "issue." Prior to iOS 5, syncing my iDevice would display a message warning me that some applications could not be synchronized because my Mac wasn't authorized. As I said, I am completely okay with this. Even though work content wouldn't sync, my personal account items would still be backed up and synced as normal. Basically, I would be able to say "no" to authorization without any content destruction.
Fast forward to iOS 5 / iTunes 10.3 / iCloud and later. Now, when I try to sync either my iPhone or iPad, iTunes displays a similar warning, however, now the choices are "Cancel," "Don't Authorize," and "Authorize." I can't authorize and don't even want to but "Don't Authorize" is also not an option. Why? Not authorizing would remove all of my work-related iOS apps, etc. So, I click "Cancel." Unfortunately, that stops the synchronization process entirely.
Here we go!..
1) Is this an iOS 5, iTunes 10.3 / 10.5, iCloud, or a change in all?
2) MOST IMPORTANT: Is there any way to regain the previous behavior, therefore, allowing me to sync personal music, videos, and other data?
A ginormous "thank you" in advance to anyone who can help!!!
