Hi Guys

I have a MacBook Pro with iMovie 9.
I did a skydive a few years ago and have dvd footage, which has .vob files of the footage.

I don't want to do anything massively fancy - just get the footage from the dvd and make a basic movie in iMovie, with a soundtrack (basically for uploading to Facebook!). I'm not interested in burning it to disc (as I have the original on DVD).
I don't want to invest in expensive programs, as it's probably only the one dvd that I'll ever want to rip. Likewise, I don't want to faff around with a complicated program, as it's just a bit of a vanity project!

Can anyone advise a very basic (preferably free!) program that will just let me import the .vob files into iMovie, so I can muck around with them and export them from there?

Thanks for the info.
I'd rather not pay the $20 if possible (simply because it makes a one-time operation quite costly - especially as it's just to get a saddo video onto Facebook!).
I'll take a look at Handbrake, thanks. :)

Handbrake can be difficult to use, but it's free. The more expensive products can be easier to use. If you run into problems, look at commercial products. Time is money.

Especially for a product that will be used only once. And what is so complicated about this?

I guess 80 USD for DVDxDV is cheaper than HandBrake or the 20 USD QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component.

Cheaper?

You mean more expensive...

btw great screenshot:), it looks good and informative for anybody who hasn't used handbrake yet.

Thanks, it took some time, but it was the most concise one I could create.
I am a screenshot addict.
My posts contain around 290 screenshots, thus every 26th post (that is not much, hmm) contains a screenshot.
