Sorry if I missed it, but what's happening to iDisk? Is there still gonna be a facility for choosing any data to upload, or is that 5GB reserved for iWork files? Hmm...

There is nothing in iCloud that replaces iDisk. That is our problem.

Is there a way to share large files with groups of people in iCloud?

Steve, just buy DropBox please... So when I just finally start using iDisk, Apple takes it away??? 5GB... that is my metadata.

I was wondering this too :(

he did say that as of iCloud's release MM ceases o exist :S so i think it will wipe iDisk... greeeat

iDisk is going to be around until at least 30th June 2012.

What's happening to MobileMe?
Effective June 6, 2011, if you had an active MobileMe account, your service has been automatically extended through June 30, 2012, at no additional charge. After this, the MobileMe service will no longer be available.

Awesome, free year too :)

i guess that gives us time to adjust to iCloud or find an alternative to transferring files to any other apple devices or windows that we don't OWN :S

maybe the revolutionary USB flash drive ;)

lol

do still love the concept of iCloud though :D

I think its great that they will give us 5gb for documents, but I wondering if its only for pages. I would like to use the iCloud for MS Office as well but I bet thats a long reach.

The WWDC event emphasized 5GB "free" storage space. This implies there will be more space available if you want to pay for it IMO.

It will be replaced by iCloud.

I'm not going anywhere, iCloud is different from me. :)

Steve can't replace me. :p

Why would it be a reach? iCloud will be transparent. If Office can't access files storied there, then it is opaque. iCloud can't very well be both transparent and opaque at the same time now, can it?

First Apple seems to let iWeb die on the vine, now the future of iDisk is unclear. It seems like someone doesn't want me to have a web presence.

iDisk?

I hope we will be able to relocate our iDisk files over to iCloud. As 6 months of free subscription doesn't do justice for having to relocate over 10 Gb of files.
If they just shut shop with iDisk, it doesn't give you much faith in "cloud" storage when a business as big as Apple pulls the plug.

Important information for MobileMe members.

Dear MobileMe member,

We'd like to share some exciting news with you about iCloud — Apple’s upcoming cloud service, which stores your content and wirelessly pushes it to your devices. iCloud integrates seamlessly with your apps, so everything happens automatically. Available this fall, iCloud is free for iOS 5 and OS X Lion users.

What does this mean for you as a MobileMe member?

When you sign up for iCloud, you'll be able to keep your MobileMe email address and move your mail, contacts, calendars, and bookmarks to the new service.

Your MobileMe subscription will be automatically extended through June 30, 2012, at no additional charge. After that date, MobileMe will no longer be available.

When iCloud becomes available this fall, we will provide more details and instructions on how to make the move. In the meantime, we encourage you to learn more about iCloud.

Sincerely,

The MobileMe Team
