Remember when the DOS emulator, iDOS, was kicked out of the AppStore in 1 day? Well, it's back in a new Jobs-friendly version. If you do retro, get it before it disappears again... It's free, and comes with six Stone Age games. Gee, I wonder if I can install King's Quest IV? Oh, wait, that's a girly game...

can you install win 3.1 with it I joke.

You may be joking, but I don't think it's totally out of the question.
The author says you can't install other games, but I think that's just to keep Apple happy. That's why I think it might disappear again.

On that page I linked to in the first post, about half way down the page, is this comment:

I just discovered a solution to install games, even if you aren’t JAILBROKEN! :)
1) Update to iDOS 2.0.1
2) Download iPhone Explorer (or any other iPhone/iPad explorer that will let you see the apps folder)
3) Find iDOS within your apps: look for (.litchie.idos), and open it
4) Open “Documents” folder; that’s the C: drive in iDOS
5) Drag & drop your files, and you can even put them directly to the “Games” folder
6) Enjoy :)
* To be clear, I’ve used this on a non-jailbroken iPad with iOS 4.2.1

Holy Carp! I'm setting up Windows 3.1 under iDOS on my iPod Touch!

Its currently on disk 5 of seven! I will post screen shots when its done!
Now disk 6! It's slow as heck, but it's going!
I had 7 old 1.2Meg floppy images of the setup disks. With great difficulty I got the contents into folders named DISK1 thru DISK7 on the "C:" drive of iDOS and then I ran SETUP.EXE in DISK1. More later...

EDIT: started new thread for screenshots.

You can even install win95 and run mario.exe etc :).

To put new files in it, just use iphone explorer (pc program for free from software4u -> http://software4u.de/Products/iPhoneExplorer/Default.aspx?lng=EN ).

You just need a pc :) - no jailbreak required. You can even add (FINALLY!!!) Ringtones = alarmtones to your iPod Touch without Jailbreak: I wrote german instructions here: http://www.apfeltalk.de/forum/ipod-touch-alarmt-t349168.html (sorry I don't have time for a translation at the moment, but it's quite easy)
