iDupe freezes finder / DEAD slow performance

I'm running iDupe on a Macbook pro (intel) with Leopard. I just freezes the finder completely and uses some 90% of the computers capacity to operate at probably 1% of its supposed speed. It's not in "deep cleaning mode" etc... standard options, selecting less than 1000 songs, "in blocks of 100", no "deep cleaning" etc.

my guess: iDupe (2.5.2. and all other versions?) are currently incompatible with the latest iTunes version...

Ideas anyone? Is there a fix / update in sight?
