iDVD '08 making the whole simple process very, NOT simple

Ok, so, long story short, no matter what size videos I add into iDVD it always says that I am exceeding the maximum space and must reduce the quality (even when I'm on the lowest quality setting).

It seems to just increase the size of the files I'm adding.. I added two 350Mb files and yet it said that the DVD was coming up to 5.74Gb...

I mean, wtf????

Any help please guys, it's really p*ssing me off now...

It's called MPEG-2. Size changes when you transfer to a playable DVD format. That's how it is.

I know it changes... but why such a great amount??

I'm guessing only solution is.. Dual layer DVDs?

It changes because MPEG2 files for a DVD must be in a pretty specific format. Theres nothing you can do about it because its a DVD standard.
