Wait. Is it an actual kernel panic, or does it simply freeze/crash the app? Have you tried a different user account (more relevant if it's not an actual kernel panic)?

its a multilingual screen of death

i tried a fresh guest account and now iDVD loops the Revolution anim about 5 times then iDVD crashes but no Kernel Panic.

I have opened up my macmini, as I upgraded to 2GB, im going to put the original 2x512MB apple ram back in to test.

If iDVD works flawlessly after that can we safely say its ram? as I have been having other panics now and then while using DVDPlayer, VisualHub:confused:

Yeah, I was just about to ask about the RAM and other panics. If it all works well after replacing the RAM with the stock chips then it's a pretty safe bet to say you've got a dodgy one. Have you got a warranty on the third party stuff? :)

Drum roll

Damn cheap ebay ram:(

put the two 512 apple memory back in and the revolution menu has been playing away for an hour with no problems.

I upgraded my Macbook with ram from crucial, I think I will go there.

funny thing is i tested the ram with memtest and it came up fine:confused:

Good work on finding the culprit mate. Software based memory testers are notoriously bad at finding dodgy RAM. They're so bad that I don't even bother with them most of the time... Trial and error and RAM swapping is the best way to test it, as well as looking for hints in Console. :)
