iDVD 6.0.4 won't recognize right sizes

iDVD for Tiger won't burn this avi I have. The avi is 800 megs and I'm burning onto a single layer dvd 4.2g large. Should be plenty of room. No matter what settings I change it won't let me burn it saying the dvd is too small to burn. It appears that iDVD cannot tell the difference between a videots actual dvd file and a compressed movie. It keeps telling me to delete content to fit it onto the disk. Anyone know how to fix this? Right now I'm burning just fine with Toast Titanium but I'd rather use iDVD to stylize the menu more. Any suggestions?
