iDVD 8 -- what length for highest quality video

I'm thinking of upgrading from 6 to 8. Does 8 handle compression better with longer videos? Are there points at which the video will start to decrease noticeably (eg. in 6 it is better to keep your video under 1 hr for the best quality). Thanks.
