iDVD help

I'm making a DVD in iDVD and for the temple (sliding panes) i put pictures in the drop zone but when i put the tv safe on my pictures are cut off. I tried moving them put it seems to only want to go up and down but not left to right. Also in iphoto you could zoom in on a picture in a book to crop it without effecting the picture is their away to do this in iDVD?

Since moving up to iDVD 6, I have not had one sucessful creation of a DVD.
It seems there is always a reason (error) and the one time I did not get
an error my SONY DVD player will not play it.
