iDVD Movie Encoding=30 Hours??!?

Whenever I want to burn a DVD , i use iDVD with a 1 year old 24x LG DVD burner whatever. I have to leave iDVD open for about a day and a half while it encodes the freaking 1 hour and a half movie. Is there something that I can do to make the DVD encoding/ burning time significantly less?
