iDVD - Preloaded, Full Lock-up on 2010 MBP

I recently purchased a new Macbook Pro 17" i7, this is my first apple product ever, and am having an issue with iDVD. When previewing the project, the MBP fully locks up (cursor remains usable), cannot quit iDVD, CPU A reaches 84 degrees C, can't restart through the OS. I had to perform a hard shutdown, and am hesitant in testing it again. Has this happened to anyone else on the new MBPs? Is this a known issue?

Try with a smaller test project using QuickTime sample files. What kind of project is it anyway, video clips/movies, slideshow of still images?

It was a 2hr long .avi movie file, I was merely experimenting with the program, as I will be using it for college this fall. All I did was drag the movie into the project window after selecting a 7.0 theme, and hit preview. That is when everything locked up...
