I've been working on a slideshow for an upcoming funeral and I'm having some issues with the audio quality of the iso image that iDVD is creating.

Out of the 5 songs that I was using, I noticed that 2 out of the 5 mp3's had a bit rate of 192 kbps. I changed the bit rate to 320 kbps, and after rendering a new iso image, the sound quality had slightly improved, but I still noticed some distortion.

My next step was to convert my mp3 files to .aiff using the AIFF encoder in iTunes at a sample rate of 48 kHz, and sample size of 16-bit. After creating my iso image from iDVD, I noticed a large increase in file size from 576 MB to 818 MB. The difference in sound quality was still only minor.

The creation process of my slideshow is as follows:
- Create a new slideshow project using still pics and .aiff music files in iMovie
- Create movie (.m4v) with iMovie (total of 5 short movie slideshows)
(At this point, audio quality is still great)
- Create slideshow in iDVD comprising of .m4v files
- Create iso image of DVD project with iDVD ---> resulting in poor audio

I'm guessing there's some sort of compression issue happening during the creation of the iso image, but I'm not really sure. I've tried burning a DVD directly from iDVD and it still produces the same results. The slideshow just does not have the same effect if the music has distortion.

Running out of ideas here. Can someone please help? Buying different software is not an option at this moment.
