iDVD Themes

I am sure that I'm doing something wrong creating my DVD's. When I open a new project I choose a theme. Then I click on the show dvd map, and drop in my project from Imovie. The theme doesn't play until the end of the movie. I'd also be OK not even using a theme, but just creating the dvd.

Any thoughts or tips will be appreciated!
