For a class I was in, I set a proxy server in the Network control panel. That class is long gone, and I have deleted it out of the network control panel... and IE will not let go of it.

I deleted the com.microsoft.explorer.plist and the network cp related ones, reset my network preferences... and IE will still not allow me to uncheck the box to use an HTTP proxy. It will allow me to uncheck the box to use the HTTP proxy for everything, but that just frees up the HTTPS and FTP boxes.

Granted, I use safari for most things, but having IE out of commission leaves me with one less browser to check webpages against while composing...

Any help is appreciated!!
