It might cost $850 or even $1100 including taxes
:O apples insane at that aspect. When the ipad 128GB only cost $950 and it has a much bigger screen and better speed.

Yea an LTE 128GB Ipad 5 would even be cheaper

nah, I think Apple will drop 16GB on the flagship iPhone, it's time for them to drop 8GB on the base model (iPhone 4 comes in 8GB only) and up the ante on the top...on contract prices:

iPhone base model 16GB only (not sure if it'll be 5C or 4S) $49/$0
iPhone 5 16GB only $99
iPhone 5S 32/64/128GB $199/299/399

iPhone 5C will be 16GB
iPhone 5S will be 32GB/64GB/128GB

iPhone 4S will be supported for the next few months because of the 30 pin adapter

iPhone 5 will be discontinued

iPhone 5C will be 16GB
iPhone 5S will be 32GB/64GB/128GB

iPhone 4S will be supported for the next few months because of the 30 pin adapter

iPhone 5 will be discontinued
I absolutely, without a doubt, guarantee the iPhone 5 will not be discontinued.

The question is only where 5C fits in and if they continue 4S or not.

The 4S will clearly be discontinued. They don't want to keep supporting the 30 pin adapter and the 5C will be a better version for similar price point.

hate to break it to you guys but they arent discontinuing the iPhone 5.

If you have read the news here macrumors has posted that many high ranking phone companies are getting rid of iphone 5 32 and 64gb stock. meaning that they are keeping the 16gb.

Also they had enough customers up in arms about the ipad 3 bs they pulled. Million upon millions of customers bought the iphone 5 and they wouldnt want to lose them.

Why keep iPhone 5 with the 5C, I don't understand. Why not drop it like the iPad (3rd generation).

The 5C is not going to replace it.

A) the first rumors of 5C were that it was for emerging markets, meaning china and other countries that use a different LTE standard than the US (one that iPhone 5 currently does not support). Not necessarily a phone that would be sold in the US.

B) 5C could be a low-cost entry level iPhone. If so, the entry level iPhone right now is iPhone 4. Obviously they will drop the 4, they would even if they only made 1 new iPhone this year, but the question is, what about the 4S? Will they keep it another year or does the 5C replace it? ...keeping in mind the 4 & 4S, neither have LTE, but they still sell lots of them.

As someone who works for a carrier in the US, I can confirm this. The 4 and 4S are running very low and we have not seen a shipment of the 32GB 5 and 64GB 5 in quite some time.

$450.27 here in Ontario, Canada with taxes. Do cell phone companies in the States still have activations fees?

Yes, most are $36 for every new line and upgrade.

****, that sucks with the activation fees. Most carriers in Canada no longer have them. I'm with Telus and don't have to pay an activation fee when I upgrade. Just pay for the phone when I buy it and then pay my early upgrade fee when my next bill comes in.

Awkward...
I love being right

You were wrong.

You were also wrong. But... I'm with you on your logic... not sure why they want that crap sticking around.

Yes, I was wrong.

Two surprises, ok 3: 4S is still hangin' w/that 30-pin connector. But...it makes sense as it has one universal model, sans LTE. 5C has same A6 chip as iPhone 5, new LTE cell chips, easier production with that one piece polycarbonate back, so, I guess I can see the price point here making sense. Which brings me to 2nd surprise:

iPhone 5C & 5S appear to share new LTE cell chips, so, makes sense to drop iPhone 5 with no future in china & some other countries. But, the surprise is that it takes 4 different models of each to cover the different carriers. http://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/ I'm guessing they made the innards in such a way as to make it easier to swap the cell chips out...we shall see as soon as ifixit can get their hands on one. (5 colors x 4 cell configs x 2 memory configs of 5C= 40 different configurations total. 3 colors x 4 cell configs x 3 memory configs of 5s= 36 different configurations total. iPhone 4S 2 colors x 1 cell config x 1 memory config = 2 different configurations total.)

Third surprise: iPhone 5s memory configurations...I thought for sure they would up the ante and drop 16GB, add 128...with that new camera, free iPhoto & iMovie, 16GB just isn't going to be enough to take photos, vids, and edit them. Scratching my head on this one.
