With next year's iPhone 16 Pro series rumored to be bigger.
I think the Mini would make a great alternative. I truly believe if the 12 and 13 mini had the same specs as the Pros it would had sold significantly more than it did and it still did pretty well when you have to compete against 4 other current iPhones model sizes at the time.
I truly will say the iPhone 12 mini that I had
was the most happiest I was with an iPhone. I recently upgraded to an 15 Pro Max and I love it
but the size doesn't make me feel comfortable using it to it's fullest because it is way too big to hold in one hand 😟 and I don't want my other hand to be busy. It hurts my hands a lot due to being too big. And the regular Pro size is not good because it is still way too big in comparison to hold in one hand comfortably. With next year's Pro Phones being bigger. Apple really needs to sell an Mini sized Pro model. As long as the Main Wide Angle Camera is the same as the rest of the Pros.

The Separate Telephoto isn't as important since the main camera can still somewhat zoom in with the current 48mp pros and if the future models have 64+ MP then there will be no real point in having the telephoto separate when you could utilize a higher megapixel main camera with a larger sensor and use that instead for zooming/cropping in from the sensor 💰

I would pay as much as a Pro Max if it were possible to have the same camera etc. without sacrificing too much on battery. But I would take what I could get of course. Not holding out hope though.

One other thing for me—personally I’d want Touch ID in the power button.

I thought 5.8 was the perfect screen size. I had the 12 mini for a year and the 5.4 was a little too small. If they added a 16 pro minus at 5.8 with decent battery life I would consider it over moving up to 6.3. Especially if the 6.3 is just taller.

All iPhone mini users will love it.

So you want all the bells and whistles of a Pro model, you want it to be smaller, AND you expect it to be cheaper?
Not gonna happen in my opinion.
Smaller == MORE expensive, not less.

I understand and respect there is a vocal crowd here that would pay more for a smaller iPhone with pro features, but Apple could barely unload the last two mini models, so they just don't believe the market is there.

I don't think the iPhone Mini has anything to do with price in the buyer's eyes, only in Apple's eyes.

Nerds and non-nerds choose to purchase Apple products for many different reasons, sometimes that's price.
If the price of all the phones were the same, it would be much easier to realize the real reason people buy what they do.
For example - people buy non pro iPhones because the pro camera bump is uncomfortable.
Some have small hands and good vision, but others may have small hands and bad vision. They may have to get the large iPhone and put up with the bulkiness because they need to have large text

It's always tradeoffs and not cut and dry as price.

Less bells and whistles.

⬆️ What he said
No. The features (bells and whistles) are exactly the same on many devices, only difference being size. That was the case in previous years of iPhone Pro and iPad Pro, and that is currently the case of the MacBook Pro. And the larger device is always more expensive. “Smaller = more expensive” is simply a false rule or even generalization looking at Apple’s history and present. The opposite is true.

Would buy two on launch day.

I said the same thing when many of us were dreaming of a 15" Macbook Air. Low and behold Apple actually did it and so I kept my end of the bargain and got it immediately :). One of the best laptops a person can own right now

So Apple, if you find yourself needing an extra few hundred bucks in profit, you know what to do :)

I’ve seen articles that say (speculation in honesty) that the sales of the small or mini phones from apple do not sell well as compared to the larger models. Since apple seems to have trouble keeping up with demand on the Pro Max line, I think that may be the reason we see the lack of new mini sized iPhones.

I don’t believe apple holds back on delivering iPhones to create a false demand. I believe they sell every thing they can.

To the point of this thread: I’m 68 and I have my Pro Max set for larger text and bolder text. The added screen dimensions makes it more comfortable to read for me. The size is not an issue. As for weight I would add extra batteries so the cameras are flush with the back of the phone! Two days of battery life!!!

Consumers needed to show interest in the base models first - iPhone 12 and 13 mini.

As a 13 mini owner, I would love a 16 mini pro, but I doubt Apple will ever release one. I believe the base model phones will be our “new mini” from here on out.

I just had a short trip to Colorado, and the areas I drove through that didn't have service with either ATT or Verizon was larger than I expected. First time in several years there, and first time with a phone (12 Pro) that had both services.

So I would be tempted to get a new phone next year with the emergency satellite backup.

IMHO the 6.1" is perfect for me. I keep going with that size.

HOWEVER I would love to see an Ultra version, a rugged iphone would be so cool.

I would love the idea, but probably not the weight. The 5/SE1 form factor is still my favorite, the mini was already a compromise.

I would love a new mini. I hate the size of current mobile phones. I have the 13 mini and will hold on to it as long as possible - unless they release a new model that is.

I will consider a 16 pro mini with top camera option. After one year and half of 14 pro max I may consider again a size downgrading.
