This display should be able to support AirPlay.

I’d like to stream movies to it occasionally. Sometimes I do that to my TV, but I’m not always in that room.
 
AirPlaying to the Studio Display on its own? That'll be never...at least with the current model. The Studio Display doesn't have any wireless or networking capabilities, which is a critical component for AirPlay.

However, if you have a newer Mac with Monterey, then you should be able to AirPlay to the Mac/display.

I was thinking if it has a full iOS device board inside it then it has the wireless chips too?
