If I clean install Lion, can I use bits of my ML backup?

I've had ML installed since day 1, and all my Time Machine backups will obviously now have been done in ML.

If I wanted to do a clean install back to Lion, would I still be able to access the ML backup just to get my music, documents, etc, from it?
