I'm still using the original iPhone and I didn't get 3G last summer.

The only difference to 3G was the faster internet which I didn't really cared for.

Can anyone point out why I would want to buy a 3GS?

What was Apple thinking?

If you don't jailbreak it, no MMS or video. Lower quality camera (if that matters). Memory space. Just to name a few.

Have you paid one bit of attention in the past two years?

First of all, the iPhone 3G also has a GPS chip. Huge difference if you want to geotag a photo or use one of the geocaching apps. Aside from that, there weren't too many big upgrades, but some of the 3.0 stuff is only available on a phone with 3G.

As far as the 3G S, wowsers. Faster CPU, more RAM, longer battery life, more megapixels in the camera with autofocus, Nike+, the volume control on your earbuds, a 32GB model. I know all this and I didn't even watch the keynote.

Wait, you have an original and you are wondering "why upgrade?"

Let's see:

3G Additions:

EDGE vs. the newer faster 3G.
GPS
MMS

3GS Additions:

Twice the Processing power.
Video
Compass
Voice Commands
3MP Camera with Auto Focus vs. 2MP Camera with Fixed Focus

Just to name a few things you will be missing out on.

But hey, if you dont want to upgrade, can you get a 3GS anyway at the discount and let me buy it from you? :D

Exactly...

Though you'll need to watch it, Snow Leopard is looking nice! Though two of the guys that speak have these thick accents that it's sometime hard to understand what they're saying.
