Hi, im sorry if this already post like this but im confused, at the moment i have iLife 2009 do i get a free update to the new one? if so how? thanks in advance

Macworld :

"If you own iLife ’11 or iWork ’09 apps (or v1 iOS apps) and you got them from the Mac App Store or iOS App Store: You should be able to download the latest versions for free by going to the app page on the Mac or iOS App Store.

If you own iLife ’11 or iWork ’09 apps for the Mac but did not purchase them from the Mac App Store: You should be able to download the latest versions for free by going to the Mac App Store and tapping Update, though you may need to first visit the Purchases screen, where you might see a box called “You Have [number] Apps to Accept.” This ties apps you have on your computer to both your Apple ID and a hardware identifier on your computer, and it should allow you to download free updates to these programs from any computer associated with your Apple ID."

I have iWork 2009 suite and am waiting to see how to upgrade. Does one have to install 10.9 for this to happen?

oh i keep reading that 2009 users can get the update free
Have you upgraded to Mavericks? That's a requirement to get the updates.

Yes. However, I'm not sure if I would call the new versions of Pages and Numbers for Mavericks upgrades. They're missing features that iWork '09 has.

Now, let see if i have understood everything right. I have an iMac mid 2010 with OS 10.6.8 - Snow lepard. I have iLife 09 and iWork 09. If i upgrade to Maveriks, i will get the free updates to iLife 13 and iWork 13, right?

I had iLife '09, which I bought out of a box. I have now updated to Mavericks and, sure enough, the App Store was telling me to download updates, which I did.

However, only iPhoto has actually updated. When I go to the App Store and view the 'Purchases' page, I am told that the new versions of Pages, Numbers & Keynote are installed, but when I launch the app, I still have the old versions & the icons have not updated (except for iPhoto).

Any ideas?

Installing Pages, Numbers, Keynote (which are the iWork suite, not iLife) does not erase the previous versions.

So, check your Applications folder : you should have an iWork09 folder with the olds versions in it, and the new apps in your applications list : launch the apps from here, then keep the news icons in the dock.

If your iPhoto has updated, I believe this is because you had a 9.x.x version of iPhoto.

A iLife09 version (iPhoto 8.x.x) is not offered the upgrade.

i have iLife 11 and apart from new icons on iMovie and iPhoto if i go into about, iPhoto is still showing as iPhoto 11 (9.5)

iMovie is version 10.
