Hello, I just got an ATV2 for my birthday gift :)

Anyway, currently I am living in a college dorm.

I realized that students can't use same network.

What I mean is that students use Wi-fi network all the time, but the devices that connect to college Wi-fi can't be in same network.

So, my ATV2's AirPlay doesn't work because my iPhone(or iPad) isn't in same network even both devices are in same name of Wi-fi.

If I jailbreak ATV2, will Airplay be able to use even though devices are not in same network?

Nope...

What you should do is get a router of your own and run your own wifi network. Then all your stuff will work when your in your dorm at least.

Agreed. Be careful with this though - many colleges detect routers accessing their network and will disable their connection. They don't like non-enterprise hardware connected such as routers, switches, etc...
