If I need to return White phone can I go to Apple Store

If I buy a White phone at AT&T and it has the dreaded light leaks or cracks in it. Can I return or exchange it at the Apple store. Sometimes the AT&T store makes me feel like a POS. I hate to get ugly with a store when I paid good money for something. I just ordered a White phone from AT&T and had to jump thru hoops to get the discounted price after they sold me a black phone with issues. Hopefully the White phone will be ok and I won't have to go to Apple or deal with any problems.
