....get the new 2016 MacBook Pro.

As Scott Kelby noted on The Grid last week, "Every time Apple takes something away to move toward the future, everybody friggin' has a cow". Remember when Apple took away the floppy disk, and even the CD drive? Everyone had a cow. Now....meh. That stuff is old tech - like serial and parallel ports.

Chances are you'll find WinDoze makers moving to USB-C ports a year from now and we'll be saying "Apple was smart to be the first"

And perhaps we'll have 128GB laptops by the time Apple gives 32GB of RAM as an option for a 'Pro' system.
The ports aren't a huge bother to me.

Don't act like Apple was the 1st to put a USB C in a PC.. Windows machines have had them for a while and the Chromebook Pixel has had 2 of them since it's release in early 2015...

ChromeOS might not work for you but you can put Linux on it..

Chromebook Pixel (early 2015) ports:

2ea USB C
2ea USB
1ea SD Card Slot
1ea Headphone Jack

What would you use a laptop with 128gb of RAM for [let alone one with 32gb]?

Answered in a billion other threads. Multiple VMs running actually useful tools such as IDEs, DBs, .. machine learning, big data or working with large data sets for analysis or transformation, the list goes on.

Check out pricing on 'upgrades' for e.g. the ThinkPad P50 or elsewhere:

What about when Apple dropped legacy ports on the 1998 iMac... No ADB, no SCSI, just USB-A.

ROFL acting like Apple is to first to have usb c ports. My current Alienware 13 r2 has two usb 3 type 1, 1 usb c, hdmi, Ethernet, 2560x1440 touchscreen oled display, 6200-u, 16gb ram, 256gb 950 pro, 512gb sata m.2, and 960m and I got it for $1200 (Minus the 512 sata m.2 and with only 8gb ram).
