I plan on pre-ordering right at 3 am(est), but this is my first pre-order through apple.com. My question is when can I expect the phone to arrive. I am traveling next friday, so if it is expected to arrive that day then I will simply ship to the adress I will be visiting. Anyone remember how it went with the 4S? Thanks.

It mostly depends on how early you can get your order in. If you get the first batch it will arrive on the 21st.

Where has anyone seen that per orders arrive the 21st I've heard this several times with no concrete info except citing what happened last year

If you end up getting into the later batch, is there a way to cancel the pre-order to wait in line at Apple instead? How would this affect account activations etc?

I got my order in through AT&T for the iPhone 4 on pre-order and had it at my door a full day before launch. I can only hope to repeat that this time.

It won't happen again. FedEx delivered the iPhone 4 a day early and Apple used UPS for the 4S launch. I'm sure they're going to be pretty damn careful that every iPhone 5 is delivered exactly when Apple wants it to be.

Don't think we saw many early arrivals of the 4s right?
