Let's say I pull my SIM card out.

And then someone sends me an iMessage during that time.

Will I get it when I put it back in? I'll be putting it another iPhone actually
 
You should since it’s A) going over data ... you just don’t receive it yet like you would if you have no service l. Same with SMS
 
Yes, I even get normal SMS and phone calls without a SIM in my old iPhones.

When at home, I don't carry my iPhone around with me and it stays in a central location in my home.

So, I keep a few old iPhones around a couple rooms in my house and still get calls and text messages on them.
 
Yep this is the beauty (and curse) of apple’s iMessage ecosystem. One SIM card but calls and texts on every Apple device you own.
