I am unable to login, and I have tried multiple things to fix. I can reinstall via the internet. This is a new Macbook Pro. Please let me know if I will lose all my data by reinstalling.

No, reinstalling the OS doesn't wipe your data.
 
You can't reset it from your Apple ID? Or use internet recovery to reset the password?

If you do an "archive and install" no, but an "erase and install" yes. Basically, just don't format the drive when you install.
