Hi, this is a relatively simple question I guess.

I have the new MBP.

I want to know if I can take the Hard drive out of it and put it in another (same model) MBP. Will OS X be recognized and run will all my stuff on it? The reason I ask is because my model will be swapped by Apple, but I don't want to have to re-backup everything as it's a pain and take's quite a long while.

Worst case, I could do it, but if this works, it's simpler and they can keep the new hard drive from the other one.

Thanks in advance!

same model of mbp? then im near certain no issue at all

you have time machine?

if its a different model mbp, it probably wont work as the retail dvds do not incorporate the drivers for the newest machines and the like

if its the same yes it wil work

if you have time machine, will work no matter what

If it's the same model, it will work. When Apple replaced my new MB last week, I asked for the HD to be swapped so I wouldn't have to deal with setting it up all over again.
