hear me out. my macbook screen has been broken for a while now and i dont have the money to repair it (600+ euros)
my screen doesnt work. its a black screen

im still able to use it cuz my mac is mirroring to my TV via HMDI. if my display settings get reset to default(not mirror). i wont be able to use my macbook at all.

so what im asking is. will a macOS software update screw with my display settings?

I don't think it would. Even major macOS updates keep your settings intact.

In the event that it does change it, you could always press CMD+F1 to mirror your display again. Even if something goes terribly wrong I think it's possible to reinstall macOS using an external display.
