I apologize - I know that this question isn't specifically iPhone related, but I couldn't find an appropriate category for my question.

If I use an Apple Store gift card online to buy an iPhone, and the card has more money left over on it, does the rest of the money become added to my Apple ID as credit, like the way iTunes store credit works?

I am asking because I am thinking of giving the rest of the balance of this card to my brother afterwards. I don't really want to get the rest of the credit on my account, if that's even possible.

thanks!

If it's a giftcard you don't need to use it all at once. Whatever balance you don't use stays on the card.
