As per the title?

If you could give a brief explanation of the app/s you suggest, and how they “improve” your life/workflow I’d be grateful.

Thanks in advance.

Honestly, 90% of the time I just use the stock stuff on the watch.

I recommend having SoundCloud if you often find yourself thinking "What's the name of that song again?" cause you can put the complication on a watch face and just tap that to have it listen for a song.

I guess I also very rarely use Facebook Messenger on the watch but mostly it's just checking the notification and replying on another device, though I have replied on the watch too.

But apps on your phone that have companion Watch apps can automatically be on the Watch too when you set it up so you don't need to go download them separately.

Depends on what you do... And I agree I use a mostly the stock apps on the watch

WorkOutDoors is a great app for outdoor running, walking, and hiking. Turns your Apple Watch into a Garmin.

Also for working out I have an app called Training Today which analyzes your heart rate variability and gives you a score on how much effort you should give during your next workout.

WaterMinder is a great app for logging your water and other drinks. The Apple Watch app for that is great and easy to use and you can log water and view status for the day.

Thanks for the detailed info, buddy.

Would you recommend buying the current 6, or just waiting out for the 7?

I’m leaning towards waiting.

Honestly I have no clue. What I can tell you is that I have the Series 4 and it feels just about perfect. I honestly doubt I could tell if you swapped it for a 6 if the AlwaysOn display thing was disabled

There is no point to get series 6 when series 7 is very likely to be released.

As for apps, I’d argue none. I downloaded tons of companion apps early on when I got my series 3 cellular. 3 years later, I use almost none, which is kind of telling what’s going on here.

To me Apple Watch mostly acts like a backup of iPhone when it is not nearby, a handful of sensors tracking some aspects of your health, Apple Pay device, and that’s pretty much it.

Since mask wearing in the pandemic screwed up being able to use Apple Wallet on FaceID phones, I've been using the Starbucks app and the Wallet app on my Watch all the time now to pay for stuff. I realize Wallet is an Apple app, and not something to download, but I *never* paid for anything with my Watch prior to COVID and now I pay for *everything* on my Watch. So whatever passes/airline/bus/train/credit cards you have in your iPhone Wallet, make sure you have it set up on your Watch.

I've used my watch exclusively for any Wallet stuff since I got it. Having it right there on your wrist is just so extremely convenient. And just double tap the side, put your hand forward and you've bought a new guitar. Easy, simple, I have too many guitars........

I bought my Series 5 at about this time and am still happily using it. So, if you need/want a Watch now, you don't have to wait for the Series 7. (I have a "buy what you need, when you need it. Get the best you can afford" purchasing policy and I've never looked back.)

As for third-party apps, the two I use most are Sleep Watch (sleep tracking) and Audible (can upload Audible books to my Watch and listen while walking outdoors, water jogging, etc).

My Watch is my favorite piece of tech ever. It's helped make me happier, healthier and more productive.

If I name a song, will you play it?

;)

I dont remember last time i used an app which isn’t an apple stock app. It comes with everything you need for the features of the watch. 100% recommend Apple Watch, you should def get one

Heartwatch and Autosleep are the only ones I purposely download to my watch. I track my sleep and fitness so I can figure out why I feel the way I do on my bad days (well besides other things).... The rest of the stuff kind of ends up on there, but I uninstall most everything that isn't apple.
