I had a 2G - contract commitment long past - that my wife now uses and I am getting an iPhone 4 for myself on the 24th. When I go into the Apply Store and they ask for my SS#, my guess is that the phone she is using is going to come up, but there is no obligation on it and could drop the plan completely tomorrow.
Will I then be able to have the new phone under my SS# as well with no problem, or will they make me try and do a transfer or something? Maybe the better question is, can you have two phones under the same SS#?
Then plan is to then upgrade her to a white phone and put both on a family plan. What I don't want to have happen is for them to say if I want the $199 pricing I need to port that number to the new phone in any way.
