If apple is really only releasing one new phone this year then why would they call it the iPhone 4s since it would technically be the successor to the iPhone 4. Wouldn't they just call it the iPhone 5 based on the current naming scheme they have as this would technically be the 5th generation iPhone and if no plans are made for another redesigned phone then it makes no sense to call it the 4s. Just look at past iPhone names with the original just being the iPhone, the second being the iPhone 3g which was named that because of the introduction of 3g, the 3rd iPhone was the 3GS because it was essentially a faster version of the iPhone 3G but the reason this works is because it was also the 3rd generation iPhone so no way were they just going to call it the iPhone 3 right... what would be the point in that? They then went with the iPhone 4 name because of it being the 4th generation iPhone. So really if you look at it the only way keeping the 4 in the name would make sense is if there is 1.) A new iPhone 5 along with a 4s 2.) its 4G but then wouldn't be the iPhone 4GS? 3.) They plan on calling the 6th generation of iPhone the iPhone 4G.

So what I'm getting at does it really make sense to have the name 4S if their wont be 2 phones announced?
