If someone buys a new iPhone 12 Pro with AppleCare+ in a foreign country will he/she be covered when visiting the US?

Or... if I buy a new iPhone 12 Pro with AppleCare+ inside the US, will I be covered when I visit Europe, Asia or any other country that has official Apple Stores? Let's say I drop my phone in the hotel bathtub in London, will the UK Apple people be able to help me with a replacement? Or will I have to bring the very damp phone back to the US and then get it replaced under AppleCare+?

Not sure we live in USA and when we went to France had an issue and and it was fixed.

The iPhone apple care terms used to insist that you had to seek service in the country where it was originally purchased. I had an issue two years ago when I was traveling on business to India and the battery on the phone malfunctioned. I called Apple Care USA and they referred me to Apple India who said since the phone was a US model they couldn’t service it in India.

It only works in the country where you have bought AppleCare from.

There is no fine print buried somewhere that says damage incurred outside of the US is not covered, right? (so I can just wait to file a water damaged phone claim after I return to the U.S.)

Thanks! :)

I am not aware of a such condition.

I just read the AppleCare+ for iPhone page on Apple's US website. This is what is says about obtaining service overseas.... I guess it's YMMV...

Same-day service in most major metropolitan areas world wide
Same-day service availability and options may vary by region and iPhone model. For international service, Apple may repair or replace your iPhone and iPhone parts with a comparable iPhone model or parts that comply with local standards.

I purchased AppleCare+ in the states and damaged my Apple Watch, they replaced it in the UK no problems.

The quick answer is, "Yes"....

Here is my personal experience, I bought an iPhone 11 from the USA Apple store (with AppleCare+) last year, and while I was traveling to Australia, I damaged it's back glass. So while I was in Australia, I saw an Apple store and decided to check my repair/replacement options. The Apple agent was very nice and explained that I have AppleCare+, and I qualify for a replacement device. However, due to the USA model of my iPhone, they had to order a USA replacement device, which took 5-7 business days. And I flew out of Australia with a brand new iPhone 11. 😁

I think Apple has the best-extended warranty plan by far, and it's worth the extra price.

So can't necessarily just have in/out service if the whole phone needs to be replaced. For the 12 models, the global model is different. A battery replacement, more likely to be done in store.
