With all this talk about August 7th for a new iPod or iMac, shouldn't an event be announced soon? Or do you think that we'll just wake up one day and go crazy when the online store is down while we keep reloading the page (meaning no event)?

Jobs said himself that Apple wants to stray away from product launches at main events, as has been evident at MWSF and WWDC this year. Yeah, okay, the iPhone was announced and Leopard re-previewed but there was no actual launching.
Was the TV released at an event? I thought it was just announced (not at MWSF2007) and then released between events. Or did they release it at WWDC? I don't know, it was too long ago.
Basically, if Apple does release a new iPod the 7th, here's my schedule (granted that I have enough money):
Schedule didn't work as planned
Basically if I like it, I'll take my drivers test, hopefully get my license, and then head out to Des Peres to the Apple Store and pick up a brand new iPod.
