If he was alive, he would take out the headphone jack and the home button sooner (remember the 3rd gen shuffle? No buttons at all). And actually he would opted for Face ID, but probably made sure the presentation was flawless. It feels like everybody didn't have enough sleep/concentration. Phil was just reading the prompter, Craig was stumbling a bit, etc.
I do agree with one of the replies here, that Steve would simplify the lineup. The three tier was already complex, but made sense (cheapest, mid range but last gen, flagship). Now we have how many tiers? SE, 6S, 7, 8, and X... not counting the plus models. It's nice seeing more options, but from marketing perspective, this only confuses customers. It was already confusing enough when they released the SE with a more powerful chip than the "mid-range" iPhone 6.
Ironically, the iPad lineup gets simplified. iPad, and iPad Pro. Done.
