If the 5c was a plastic version of the 5s, even at the same price, I would have had a really difficult discussion to make last Friday!

I was discussing this with my wife today. I think it would have been nice. Now, (cost aside), people have to choose between the colors or the aluminum. The leather cases are actually a nice accessory though. My green case almost makes me feel like I have a leather 5C, if that makes any sense at all. 
I agree. While I don't necessary like the colors of the 5c I do understand the reason for its existence. After 4 generations of the "Glass and Metal Sandwich" looks "fresh" while the old design, while still gorgeous, is looking a bit stale.
Personally, I use a 5 and have a 5s (silver) on the way that I paid full price for because I want that camera so bad. But I'll likely return it because in the end I know that I'll upgrade next year (hopefully to a bigger screen) so why pay so much for something so similar.
