Since the soldered RAM is on the main board, if it goes out of warranty,
I'd think the cost to replace the board would be very expensive?

Anyone have experience with this and the one of the AIR laptops with soldered Ram?

I haven't seen any reports (at least on these forums) of Airs with failed RAM, and they've been shipping with soldered RAM since 2008.

In my personal experience almost all troubles with RAM happen right out of the box.

If you did have an out-of-warranty RAM failure though it would require a logic board replacement.
