If WiFi doesnt work on Sierra on a late 2008 Macbook, should I keep Yosemite ?

I have an aluminium 2008 Macbook with Yosemite installed
I know its possible to upgrade, but I checked, it has exactly the Broadcom WiFi device that is not supposed to work.

Should I keep Yosemite, or should I bother to upgrade to El Capitan or Sierra ?
