...Can you change security settings in Recovery mode?
Because I can't.
"Startup Security Utility" offers "local" ie. admin users from that external drive, but their passwords does not work.
So I can't install 3rd party kext. So I can't see the SMART of my (external) drives.
Apple's engineers (via Apple's customer support, of course) said, that Apple does not recommend lowering the security, so they also won't help to lower them.
I did a second inquiry in simpiest form "is this a bug (that might get fixed) or is it a feature (that will not be fixed, because there's nothin broken)?"
I'm still waiting for an answer to that.
If booting from external AND installing 3rd party kexts is not possible in Monterey,
does anybody know if this works in Big Sur?
I formely used Mojave, so I have no experience of Catalina or Big Sur.
(And I will never ever again try to use macOS, which is still developed, if I don't have to.)
